Transmitting knowledge and being technical are only some of the qualifications a good ESL professional must have. Differently from many other areas of work, teaching involves dealing directly with people in a non-natural environment. No matter what these people's desires are (their purposes may range from pursuiting a better status in their careers, growing in self-confidence or even only socializing and interacting with other human beings), ESL teachers have as main objective to motivate, to captivate them, and to show them alternatives when the only possible way is blocked in a rainy day...

Being human is the only thing that enables teachers to be what they are - and the only thing that can drive them away from the profession. To listen to one's feelings, instincts and take action after that is not an easy task, but it is a powerful weapon for those who are pursuiting a real and effective development in their teaching careers.

For this and many other reasons, the purpose of this site is to offer other ways of development - those related to personal abilities, strenghts, weaknesses - in addition to the traditional academic training methods, and to share experiences and different perceptions of reality in the different teaching environments. The goal is to help teachers achieve their professional goals while developing their internal motivational issues balanced - it is to help them to keep themselves motivated, so they can motivate.
